The beginning of the school year came with many promises for change. Changes to the system to be more inclusive, focus on mental health, social/emotional learning, learning loss, and equity. As the year progressed, it seemed that the system slowly (or not so slowly) went back to it’s previous flow with little to no real change. This year, I am part of the Educators Neighborhood Cohort with the Fred Rogers Institute. (I’ll write more on that later, when my time in this cohort culminates in July.) For this week’s quote to reflect upon, I choose the following statement from Mr. Rogers. “We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say ‘It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”
What are you doing right now to make change? Change within yourself and within your community?
